Summer at Skylark Farm

This is what the blurb says:

Amber is a city girl at heart. So when her boyfriend Jake Somerville suggests they move to the countryside to help out at his family farm, she doesn't quite know how to react. But work has been hectic and she needs a break so she decides to grasp the opportunity and make the best of it. Dreaming of organic orchards, paddling in streams and frolicking in fields, Amber packs up her things and moves to Skylark Farm. But life is not quite how she imagined - it's cold and dirty and the farm buildings are dilapidated and crumbling. But Amber is determined to make the best of it and throws herself into farm life. But can she really fit in here? And can she and Jake stay together when they are so different?

This are my thoughts:

This book is fabulous! A solid 5 stars from me. An absolutely wonderful summer read from Heidi Swain. A beautifully enticing front cover that draws the eye and then drags you in instantly! The story follows Amber, a big city hot shot with all the contacts, who decides enough is enough. She turns down her boss Simon when he offers her what should be her dream job. Managing a n

ew office in Dubai. Instead, she heads up to Skylark Farm with her boyfriend Jake. Skylark has been in his family for generations and it's in the hands of his Aunt Annie. A kind and stalwart lady who is always on hand for advice. Determined to make a go of it, Amber throws herself, her flowered wellies and her boden shirts straight into the running of the farm. With no experience whatsoever she's learning on the job. Throughout the summer Amber makes friends, settles in and is on hand to help in a crisis. Is she afforded the same help and love when her life at Skylark and all she's worked so hard to achieve is thrown into turmoil and doubt? A fabulous novel that is filled with good humour, fun, romance and some ups and downs along the way. A feel good story that I can highly recommend, a must read for the summer and I can't wait for the next!
