Watching Edie
THERE ARE SOME FRIENDS YOU’LL NEVER FORGET… NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU TRY
BEFORE Edie is the friend that Heather has always craved. But one night, it goes terrifyingly wrong. And what started as an innocent friendship ends in two lives being destroyed.
AFTER Sixteen years later, Edie is still rebuilding her life. But Heather isn’t ready to let her forget so easily. It’s no coincidence that she shows up when Edie needs her most.
NOW Edie or Heather? Heather or Edie?
Someone has to pay for what happened, but who will it be?
'WATCHING EDIE has a clever plot, a fateful friendship, a callous betrayal, and an ending that is as twisty as it is inevitable'
O.M.G. What a book this is! If i could give more than the 5*, i'd do it. Based around 2 main characters, Edie & Heather. The story is told in a before and after chapter way. The before is told by Heather. A girl who at the age of 16 has suffered such trauma already. All she wants is to fit in. She forms an unlikely friendship with Edie. After is told by Edie, a 34 yr old woman now with a baby to protect. Estranged from her family and haunted by memories of that day. The fatal day that will shape the lives of these 2 girls /women for years to come. I absolutely loved this book, the author has such a clever way of writing this book, you find yourself questioning, who is right /wrong? Can you really tell the difference between good and bad? This book is beautifully layered so that the story unfolds over time and your own perceptions change. Just such a fabulous, dark, twisting psychological thriller that I cannot recommend highly enough! An absolute add to your must reads! Buy it and have it on top of the pile, you won't be disappointed!
Now, i originally read this book as an ARC, in July. I loved it then and shared where i could but, didn't have my blog (obviously!)
One of the first books that came into my head when thinking about the blog was this one. In truth, i'm not sure it ever left. Every so often, over the last couple of months, my mind has wandered and strayed back to this story. I can't seem to help poking it, nudging it, and rolling it over and over again in my mind. It is actually, beautifully written, and clearly the author has a gift. I would, without a doubt, recommend this book and i eagerly await for more from this author in future.
