My thoughts:
After having read 34 days by Anita Waller, i jumped at the chance to read this one. However, if i was expecting something similar to 34 Days i was very much mistaken.
Anita takes us down the path of the paranormal and supernatural in this one. Although a totally different genre to any of her others, it lives up to every expectation you have for one of Anitas' books. A good cast of characters in a book that is sure to capture the readers attention and imagination.
The stage is set right at the beginning of this novel. You are thrown head long into a storyline that will have you feeling emotional and at the same time, reaching for a cushion for comfort.
Lavender is the youngest of 3 sisters. As a girl she was liked by and entranced everyone who met her. Lavender grows into a beautiful young lady with everything going for her, looking forward to a long and happy life with her fiancé Matt. That is until a tragic accident in 1991 that changes all of their lives forever.
It's 1996 and time has helped heal the wounds left by Lavenders passing. Matt has moved on and found love again with Beth. When Matt and Beth announce their engagement nobody could have foreseen what was about to unfold.
Lavenders family, to whom Matt has stayed close friends with, are over the moon and offer the use of their house and gardens for the wedding. During the preparations, strange, inexplicable things begin to happen to some of those people directly involved with the event.
What the author has given us here, is a well written, eerily atmospheric novel. It is a story of pure love that takes on a dark twist when a spirit refuses to die and move on. With the loss of Lavender in 1991, can there really ever be a happy ending?
