The Review

THE LAST THING I REMEMBER by Deborah Lee What would you do if you woke up and couldn't remember who you are? Trapped in darkness but you can hear everything around you, voices talking about you ... but to them you're still sleeping. Sarah is in a coma. She doesn't know who she is or where she is and how she got there. She can't shout that she's still alive. Can't move to tell those she's still in the land of the living. Her body may be motionless but her mind is desperate to solve the mystery of what has happened to her. There was an accident ... she was hurt ... no ... it wasn't an accident ... she was attacked ... and her attacker is still roaming free ... With the help of Kelly, her neighbours' teenage daughter, who visits her daily and begs her to wake up, Sarah must fight to stay alive and bring her attacker to justice, as he is intent on killing her to keep her quiet. Permanently. From the darkness Sarah must find the light that will bring her home. Told from Sarah's perspective as she lies in a coma and Kelly filling in the gaps in the outside world, this book had me frantically flipping pages as I too tried to fit the puzzle pieces together. The twist ending left me stunned ... A fantastic debut novel from Deborah Lee that you will leave guessing until the end ... and wary of who to trust ... what is the last thing you would remember?
